Archaeology: KS1 AND KS2
Have a go at the 2 ideas suggested, you will need to get your family involved.
- Wrap objects in tissue paper (you should always use special acid-free tissue for wrapping historical or other precious objects – why do you think they do this?). See if other family members can try to guess what they are from the shape.
- Bury objects (or fragments) in layers of sand in a tray for your family to dig up and record using a grid. To make this a really clever activity, draw a map, and see if you can draw a grid across it. (see the picture below) See if someone in your home can then identify where they found the object.
