Our Curriculum

At Cheapside we have a topic based curriculum and each class will be studying a different topic. Topics are planned by class teachers and designed to be engaging and appropriate to the age of the children. Topics are enhanced by trips, visitors, workshops and learning outdoors. Please take a look under the key information tab for more detailed information of each class topic.

Statement of Intent

  • At Cheapside School, our aim is to provide our children with a bespoke and engaging curriculum that excites and promotes an interest in learning. We want our children to be happy, resilient and independent so that they are equipped for lifelong learning.
  • We use our values (Achieving our best in thought, word and deed) to promote responsibility for learning and citizenship. We encourage a sense of belonging to our school and working together in a safe environment where we are able to risk take, grow and flourish. The outdoors and our local community are an integral part of our curriculum and we use both to facilitate learning new skills and to broaden experiences.
  • Every child at our school is recognised as a unique individual and our curriculum represents the diversity within our school community. Our curriculum is adaptable to the needs of every child and the ‘whole child’ is taken into account ensuring breadth and balance. The ability to learn at Cheapside is underpinned by the teaching of numeracy and literacy
skills, knowledge, concepts and Christian Values with the shared vision of preparing our children for life in the 21st Century.
