This week, Nightingale Class were very privileged to visit the stunning new herb garden at The Thatched Tavern, along with being treated to a delicious, healthy lunch!
We were greeted by Laurence, the pub manager and John Cross, a local landscape gardener. John sat us all down on the benches and introduced us to some of the herbs, along with edible plants and flowers, which we then tasted. A lovely fresh fruit punch was then created using water, fruits and herbs – very refreshing! The highlight of the visit for the children was, of course, the amazing lunch. Luckily we weren’t subjected to the Slugs, Snails and Worms on the first menu shown! Our gourmet menu included Lemon and rosemary chicken, herby couscous and Lemon and thyme sardines. This was hugely enjoyed by everyone and some children were very adventurous in tasting food they hadn’t tried before. The children were then given a quiz to complete and a lovely pot of herbs to take home. We would like to thank The Thatched Tavern and John Cross for their wonderful generosity in inviting us! We hope you enjoy the pictures below.
