Hello and welcome to Owl Class! The year 6 class teacher is Mrs Hayden. The children made a terrific start to the school year with a residential to Mill on the Brue. This week of adventure encouraged us all to try something new; face our fears with a determination to succeed and build even stronger friendships for the coming year. We encourage the year 6 children to enjoy the greater responsibility that they are awarded as they prepare for the transition to secondary school and of course, to enjoy a fantastic final year at Cheapside.

General notices:

P.E is on a Monday each week, however, P.E kit may be needed on other days and so it is advisable for it to be in school every day.

The children are very fortunate that this year they will be enjoying Forest School every Thursday afternoon. This year, the Royal Holloway University of London will be coming in to assist in this and teach elements of the Science Curriculum through Forest School.

Outdoor shoes are required in school at all times so that the children can access the school field at play time.  These can be outdoor trainers or wellies.

Reading books should be in school every day.

Homework will now be given on a Friday and should be completed and returned to school by Wednesday.  Currently, homework comprises  times tables (Times Tables Rock Stars), Key Instant Recall Facts (KIRFs), maths and topic/ English work.

In addition, children will be given weekly spellings on a Monday to be practised daily, ready for a test the following Monday.

If you have any concerns or queries please do not hesitate to contact me. I am available after school.

I look forward to a wonderful year ahead!

Mrs Hayden
