ROBIN CLASS PAGE
Welcome to Robin Class : the Year 1 class at Cheapside School.
Mrs Day teaches the class on Monday and Tuesday. Mrs Spong teaches the class on Wednesday morning and all day Thursday and Friday. Mrs Summers teaches the class in Forest School on Wednesday afternoon.
P.E. is on Tuesday afternoon.
Forest School is on Wednesday afternoon. The children should come to school in their Forest School clothes, which can be their P.E. kit. Please also remember a waterproof coat, gloves and hat. Wellies should already be in School.
It is useful for P.E. kits to be in school all week, in case plans need to change or spare clothes are needed.
Currently homework comprises of maths, spellings and daily reading. Occasionally there may be work or research for a different subject.
Reading books and reading record books should be in school every day. Please complete your child’s reading record book when they have been listened to. These will be checked (and books changed as appropriate) on Mondays and Thursdays.
For most children, spellings include common exception ‘red’ words and words containing the phonic sound of the week. Please see list attached, which is issued every half term. As detailed, these are practised daily in class and usually tested in sentence dictations on a Friday.
Maths is usually a weekly online Abacus task. This is accessed on www.activelearnprimary.co.uk. Each child has been given their own username, password and the four letter school code.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any concerns or queries,

Forest School – Wednesday 23/5/18
We had a lovely afternoon in the sun this week exploring the colours that we can find in our forest. The children went on a colour bingo hunt and even attempted to make their own paint pallet using natural materials. The most creative and express work was the Hapa Zome activity. Hapa Zome is the Japanese art of beating up leaves with hammers, pounding natural pigment into cloth. Robins were very proud of what they produced!
Work on the allotment
Robins have done a fantastic job preparing the allotment for planting. They have also planted peas and potatoes which they have grown from seed. Well done Robins !
Forest School Wednesday 21/3/18
Robins had a delightful afternoon in Forest School this week. To link in with our focus on Easter, we made some Easter gardens. We talked about the key symbols in the garden, the cross and the tomb and what they represent. The gardens are truly beautiful as I am sure you will all agree! Great work Robins!
